Wide glulam cladding for exterior walls, 215, 250 and 300 mm

Our glulam cladding is available in widths of 215, 250 and 300 mm, making it easy to choose the right look to suit the building’s proportions and architecture. If you are looking for wide horizontal exterior cladding or wide boards for a timber façade, this is a key advantage. The boards are 25 mm thick and are still light and easy to handle on site.

Horizontal or vertical cladding

Our glulam cladding can be installed both horizontally and vertically. With horizontal installation, the board has a single chamfer that creates a natural drip edge at the bottom of each board, helping rain and snow run off the wall. With vertical installation, the profile is also designed to guide water down the face rather than behind the cladding. In addition, the boards are end matched in a way that helps protect the end grain, which is typically the most vulnerable part of a timber façade. The end matching also minimises waste and provides neat joints.

What types of buildings is glulam cladding suitable for?

Glulam cladding suits all kinds of buildings, for example apartment buildings, holiday homes, cabins, detached houses, stables, garages and industrial buildings. In short, any building where you want a strong timber exterior with a wider format and a clear, distinctive look. The different board widths and the option to install the cladding horizontally or vertically make it easier to tailor the exterior to the character of the building.

Installation of glulam cladding

Our glulam cladding is designed for quick, straightforward installation. For horizontal installation, start at the bottom and work upwards. The first board should be fixed at least 300 mm above ground level to reduce the risk of moisture damage from splashback. The recommended stud spacing is 600 mm and there must be a ventilated cavity behind the cladding. Each board should be fixed with two screws or two nails at every 600 mm. For boards with a width of 300 mm, three fixings may be required.

All end grain must be painted or treated with an extra coat before installation, including the end joints. There are several fixing options available, but it is important to use nails or screws that are 48 mm. Two good options are Senco panel nails or Gunnebo cladding screws, stainless steel or C4 rated.

Untreated or painted cladding

The cladding is supplied untreated as standard, but can also be ordered factory primed or intermediate coated. The paint shop we work with uses products from Jotun, including opaque paints and stains, as well as Falu Vapen, in a wide range of colours.

Production and quality control

During manufacturing, we carry out several manual inspections to ensure that each glulam cladding board meets high standards for quality and strength. This results in dimensionally stable spruce glulam cladding with consistent, reliable performance for exterior use.

Interior use

The boards can also be used indoors as wall or ceiling lining. For interior applications, we normally sand the surface to create a smooth, wipe clean finish.

Bargeboards, window and door trims

Made from the same material as our glulam cladding, we can also supply glulam boards for use as bargeboards and window and door trims. Ask when requesting a quote and we can propose suitable quantities and widths for your project. If you need more painted material than the cladding itself, we can also source additional timber from external sawmills. This makes it practical and often more cost effective to have everything painted in the same place.

Project packaging

We can supply the cladding cut to exact lengths for faster installation. For larger projects, we can also pack the cladding according to the customer’s schedule, for example “Level 5, east gable”, etc. All to reduce installation time on site.

Drip edge

When ordering vertical cladding cut to exact lengths, we can supply the boards with a drip edge at the bottom.
