Untreated or Linax treated glulam decking
Lamtech offers glulam decking in both untreated and Linax treated versions. The untreated boards suit those who want to choose their own surface treatment, or who prefer to let the timber’s natural appearance define the final result. The Linax treated boards are treated with a copper based preservative to NTR Class AB, and are then boiled in hot linseed oil under vacuum. This provides wood protection that requires minimal maintenance, with the first maintenance treatment typically carried out after approximately 5 years. Linax is also described as an environmentally friendly alternative, with very good test results regarding moisture repellency. The decking is available in brown, natural and grey.
Wide deck boards with a grooved face
For anyone looking for grooved decking, Lamtech offers deck boards with two different finishes in the same board. Each board has one smooth face and one grooved face, allowing you to choose the appearance and performance that best suit your project. The grooved face is a good choice in areas where the deck surface is frequently wet, for example around pools or on jetties, as the grooves provide improved grip and help the surface feel less slippery in rain or splash conditions. The smooth face is the B face and may show marks from spacer battens during handling, but these will weather away over time.

Why many choose glulam decking
There are many types of decking timber on the market, but Lamtech’s glulam decking stands out through its combination of Swedish timber, low moisture content, wide dimensions and carefully controlled manufacturing. The generous 215 mm face width creates a premium, distinctive look while also making installation simpler and more efficient. If you want durable timber decking without switching to plastic composite, glulam decking is a strong alternative. The low moisture content also reduces the risk of boards cupping, splitting or twisting, which can lower the need for repairs and premature replacement.
Quality and manufacturing
Lamtech’s glulam decking is produced using solid timber expertise and hands on supervision. Throughout the process, the laminations and raw timber are continuously inspected to ensure the finished product meets a high quality standard. Any material that does not meet requirements is removed from production. Combined with two component adhesive bonding and controlled manufacturing, this results in a dimensionally stable timber product designed to withstand exposure to weather, wind and water.
Glulam Decking
What is glulam decking?
Glulam decking is timber decking made from bonded pine laminations. The construction method, low moisture content and controlled manufacturing process reduce the risk of the boards cupping, splitting or twisting after installation.
What is the difference between untreated and Linax treated glulam decking?
Untreated glulam decking is suitable if you want to choose your own surface treatment or keep the timber’s natural appearance. Linax treated glulam decking is treated to NTR Class AB and processed in hot linseed oil under vacuum, providing durable decking that requires minimal maintenance.
What are the dimensions of Lamtech’s glulam decking?
Lamtech’s glulam decking is 215 mm wide and 34 mm thick. The generous width creates a more premium look and can also make installation more efficient.
How often does the decking need maintenance?
Untreated decking
Untreated glulam decking must be surface treated to perform well over time. For best durability, treat the boards with a suitable exterior grade product and carry out maintenance at regular intervals depending on how exposed the location is.
Linax treated decking
The first maintenance treatment for Lamtech’s Linax treated decking is typically carried out after approximately 5 years. This makes Linax treated decking a good option if you want timber decking with a longer interval before the first maintenance. Please note that the natural colour will weather to grey over time.
The oil is included with the purchase and can also be ordered from us when it is time for future maintenance.
Where can glulam decking be used?
Glulam decking is suitable for terraces, balcony decking, sun decks, pool decks, jetties and other outdoor areas where you want to combine the natural look of timber, high strength and a wider board format.
